Help picking the right cameras and recorder for your property, planning where coverage actually needs to go, and configuring the system — local recording set up the way you want it. This is planning and configuration guidance done remotely or by drop-off; I don’t do on-site installation visits, and I’ll always be straight about that upfront.
Sized to your property
Every property is different, and the right system depends on what you actually need to see. Here’s the honest breakdown of the four tiers, and who each one is really for.
A small setup — a doorbell camera or a couple of standalone cameras with app viewing. Good fit for renters, apartments, or a single entry point you want covered. Quick to install, no cabling runs, and usually no ongoing cost beyond the camera itself unless you choose a subscription-locked brand — something we’ll flag up front.
Multi-camera coverage with a local recorder (NVR/DVR) and remote access set up securely. This is the sweet spot for most homes and small storefronts: front, back, driveway, and interior points covered, footage retained locally without a monthly fee, and viewing from your phone when you’re away.
Larger or mixed wired/wireless deployments planned around the actual property — multiple buildings, long cable runs, PoE switches for power-and-data over one cable, parking lots, warehouses, or a mix of indoor and outdoor coverage. This tier starts with photos, a floor plan, or a video walkthrough you send over, so the plan fits before anything’s bought.
Systems with on-device motion and person/vehicle detection to cut down false alerts — the difference between getting notified for every passing car and tree branch versus only when an actual person walks up. Detection runs on the device, not a cloud AI service, keeping the same local-first approach.
This is a one-person hobby, not a licensed electrical or security-installation company, and there’s no on-site visit. What you get is help choosing the right hardware, planning where it should go, and configuring the system (over a call, photos/video, or a drop-off of the recorder and cameras) — not someone showing up to mount cameras, run cable, or open a breaker panel. Any physical mounting, cable-running, or line-voltage electrical work is yours to arrange, and anything beyond low-voltage wiring needs a licensed electrician you hire directly — that’s not a service offered here.
Before you spend money
The best camera system is the one that captures what you actually care about, reliably, and that you’ll still be able to use in two years. We start with a conversation and whatever photos, a rough floor sketch, or a short video walkthrough you send over, and go through the specific things worth covering — front door, driveway, back entry, a blind spot, the shop floor. It’s better to have a few well-placed cameras than a pile pointed at nothing useful.
Distance matters more than people expect: a camera that reads a face clearly at 15 feet may show nothing but a blur at 60. We factor real sightlines and lens range into the plan from what you show me, instead of guessing from a spec sheet — and if something’s unclear, that’s a question, not a site visit.
The tradeoff people don’t ask about
Footage is stored on a recorder or memory card you own. No monthly fee, your footage stays yours, and it doesn’t disappear if a vendor shuts down or changes its pricing. You’re responsible for managing storage — we size it to how many days you want kept.
Convenient and stored off-site, which protects footage if the recorder itself is stolen or damaged. It usually comes with a subscription, and your access depends on the company staying in business and its pricing staying reasonable. We set it up if you want it — with the real cost and dependency spelled out first.
Higher resolution looks better but eats storage fast. 2K is a good balance for most homes; 4K matters mainly when you need to read a license plate or a face at real distance.
Some cameras are cheap up front but lock recording — the actual point of a security camera — behind a monthly fee. We flag that cost before you buy, not after.
Respecting your neighbors and your household
Doorbell and entry cameras that capture the public sidewalk are generally fine. Aiming a camera into a neighbor’s windows or yard causes disputes and, in some situations, legal problems — we plan angles to avoid it.
Wi-Fi cameras and video doorbells are convenient but often poorly secured out of the box. Where it makes sense, we set them up on a separate guest network so a compromised device can’t reach the computers and phones holding your important data.

You can, and for a simple doorbell that’s often fine. For multi-camera coverage, placement, recording, and remote access, getting it planned right the first time saves a lot of frustration — that planning is exactly what this is.

This is a one-person hobby done remotely and by drop-off: I help you pick the right gear, plan the coverage from photos or a video you send over, and configure the recorder/cameras. You (or someone you hire) handle the physical mounting and cable-running, and any work needing a licensed electrician is on you to arrange directly — that’s never subcontracted through me.
By default it records locally to your recorder. If you want secure remote viewing or off-site cloud backup, we set that up and explain exactly how it works and what it costs.
No — we set up the system so you (or your staff) can view and manage it yourself. We don’t offer a staffed monitoring service, and we won’t pretend to. If that’s something you specifically need, we’ll be upfront that it’s a different kind of provider.
