That Computer Guy · a division of TCG Solutions

Honest drop-off repair. No games, no upsells.

A one-person hobby and second job — Gary Amick works IT and construction during the week, and does hardware repair evenings and weekends, by arrangement. Drop-off only. You supply the parts. No payment up front.

📦 Drop-off only — never on-site
🧾 You order & supply the parts
🚫 No payment up front · not insured

This is a real, one-person operation — not a franchise, not an insured on-site IT company, and not a storefront with a parts counter. It’s honest, careful drop-off hardware repair, done by the person who actually does the work, at a pace that fits around a full-time week in IT and construction. If that’s what you’re looking for — straight answers and no pressure — this is the place.

What I actually fix

Real work, done honestly

Slow computers & tune-ups

Full or failing drives, too many startup programs, low memory — I find the real cause of the slowdown, not just a reboot.

Virus & malware cleanup

Pop-ups, hijacked browsers, ransomware scares — removed, checked for damage left behind, and explained so it does not come back.

Boot failures & won’t-start diagnostics

Won’t power on, stuck on a logo, blue screens — diagnosed to find out whether it’s worth fixing.

Upgrades — you supply the parts

SSD, RAM, GPU, or a new drive: you order exactly what’s needed (I’ll tell you what to buy), and I install it.

PC assembly from parts you provide

Bought a parts list for a build? I’ll assemble, wire, and get it booted and updated. I don’t source or sell the parts.

Data-recovery attempts

I’ll try to pull files off a failing or dead drive. Outcomes depend entirely on the failure and are never guaranteed.

Before you drop anything off

How drop-off works

Every one of these is a real policy, not fine print — read it before you arrange a drop-off.

  • Drop-off only — you bring the hardware to me; I don’t do on-site or in-home visits.
  • You order and supply all parts. I’ll tell you exactly what’s needed; you buy it.
  • No payment up front. You pay when the work is done and you’re satisfied.
  • Pictures, estimates, disclaimers, reports, diagnostics, and receipts are available on request.
  • After a repair is complete, I’ll hold your device up to 30 days; after that it’s $1/day storage.
  • This is a one-person, home-operated hobby and second job — not a full-time shop.
  • Hours are Monday–Friday 5–10 PM and weekends by appointment. Call or text to schedule.
  • I’m not a licensed contractor or electrician, and this hobby is not insured.
  • I reserve the right to decline any job.

Questions people actually ask

FAQ

Do you come to my house or business?

No. This is drop-off only — you bring the hardware to me. There are no on-site or in-home visits, ever, no matter the job.

Do you supply the parts?

No. You order and supply all parts yourself. I’ll tell you exactly what’s needed (the part number, spec, whatever it takes to get it right) — you buy it and bring it, or have it shipped to you before drop-off.

Do I pay anything up front?

No. No payment is taken up front. You pay when the work is done and you’re satisfied with it.

Are you insured, or a licensed contractor?

No. This is a one-person hobby and second job — I’m not insured, and I’m not a licensed contractor or electrician. If you need something outside that scope, I’ll tell you honestly.

What happens to my device after the repair is finished?

I’ll hold it for you up to 30 days after the repair is complete, free. After that, storage is $1/day until it’s picked up.

Can I get pictures, an estimate, or a diagnostic report?

Yes — pictures, estimates, disclaimers, reports, diagnostics, and receipts are all available on request. Just ask.

Is data recovery guaranteed?

No. I’ll make a genuine attempt, but outcomes depend on what actually failed and are never guaranteed. Keep your own backup of anything irreplaceable.

Will you always take the job?

Not necessarily — I reserve the right to decline any job. This is a hobby done evenings and weekends by arrangement, not a full-time shop with unlimited capacity.

Why drop-off only, and why do I supply the parts?

Because this is honestly what it is: a one-person hobby and second job, not a company with a fleet, a warehouse of parts, or insurance to cover on-site work. Keeping it drop-off and customer-supplied-parts is what lets the pricing stay honest and the work stay good.
