What the tech world is reading

The top developer and technology stories on Hacker News, ranked by community upvotes. A sharper, more technical cut than our general news feed.

Why Hacker News, specifically

Hacker News is where software engineers, security researchers, and startup founders post and vote on what actually matters that day — new vulnerabilities, major outages, tools shipping, and the industry gossip that ends up being relevant six months later. The ranking here is the community’s own upvote count and comment activity, not an algorithm trying to keep you scrolling.

It’s a different filter than mainstream tech news: less “new iPhone color,” more “this widely-used library has a critical bug” or “this cloud provider just changed its pricing.” A handful of these stories every month turn into something a small business owner should actually know about.

What this means for you: when a headline here is about a breach, an exploited vulnerability, or a piece of software you rely on, that’s exactly the kind of thing we watch for on behalf of clients — and it’s the same reasoning behind our authorized security testing and advisory work.
